Sonu Niigaam Ji coming up with some new chillax hits

The legendary singer, Sonu Niigaam Ji is coming up with some new releases..

Sonu Ji is recently too busy with His hectic schedule of shows and recordings.. Sonu Ji has given His golden voice for an upcoming movie " Accident On Hill Road"..

The first look of the movie Accident on Hillroad was recently unveiled at a Lounge in Mumbai where present were the whole cast of the film Celina Jaitely, Farooque Sheikh, Abhimanyu Singh. The actress, looking gorgeous in a black saree, revealed this was for the first time in six years of her career that she had allowed her long lustrous hair to be trimmed.

Celina
said, "I have totally different look in the film." The statement could have been construed as a typical cliched quote given by a star to

hype her film. But it is only when you take a closer look that you

realise that it is indeed Celinaa in the poster. The short hair look

for this Nari Hira venture was created by Hakim Aalim.

Accident on Hill Road also stars Farooque Sheikh. It is after a long

gap that the senior actor will be seen on screen. And actor Abhimanyu Singh who made his marks with his outstanding performance in Gulal. Accident on Hill Road marks the debut of Mahesh Nair as a director.

Shantanu Moitra speaks on Sonu Niigaam Ji

Recently when the music director of an upcoming film 3 Idiots Shantanu Moitra was interviewed by media persons about the music of the movie and the singers, what Shantanu said,

Sonu Niigaam Ji and Shreya Ghoshal are your main singers. Have you followed the classic one-singer-for- an-actor formula?

Rajkumar Hirani : Not really.

Shantanu : But since you mentioned them, let me tell you that one quirk we three have that drives Sonuji and Shreyaji up the wall - we keep changing things in a song all the time, even recalling singers after recordings. For pal pal in Parineeta we ended up calling them four times into the studios, and Sonu Ji joked and asked if something was wrong because we had only recalled them once here after the first recording. But with Zooby dooby, the figure finally did reach four!!

Sonu Ji planning to bring Larry King to India

It would seem so given the rumour that Sonu Niigaam Ji is said to be currently scouting for an apartment in New York. The singer, however, doesn’t confirm this. Yes, he admits that he’s spent almost six months this year between New York and Los Angeles working on various music concerts and shows. And, on a recent visit, he was even invited to the home of America’s sought-after talk show host — Larry King.

Asked how he managed this coup, Sonu Ji says, “I got to know Larry through his wife Shawn King, who is a brilliant country music singer. Music producer Damon Elliot introduced me to Shawn. And she invited me over to her home where I had my own personal audience with the revered Larry King.” Excited by that meeting, Sonu Ji is planning to bring Larry down to India now and reveals, “He definitely wants to come... but we have to see how we can steal him away from his daily television commitment.”

Sonu Ji found Larry charismatic and with a crazy sense of humour. After spending hours in the television anchor’s home, the Bollywood singer says, “I was fascinated by the work that the Larry King Cardiac Foundation is doing. It was started by Larry after he suffered from a heart attack. The Kings raise funds to cover millions of Americans who don’t have medical insurance to pay heart treatment. I’m invited to attend one of the foundation’s functions.”

No doubts Sonu Ji has a big list of fans not only in India but out of India as well.. But no one wants to leave the golden voice..

Sonu Niigaam Ji roped in for Larry King's Charity

Mumbai: Legendary American talk show host Larry King has teamed up with songster Sonu Niigaam Ji for his Larry King Cardiac Foundation that provides free check-ups, medical help and surgeries to underprivileged Americans suffering from heart problems.

Sonu Ji, who is friend with Larry's current spouse Shawn Southwick (having interacted with her many times during his overseas music projects), says it was she who introduced him to Larry."I've know Shawn for a long time now and she made me meet Larry. He is very committed to the cause, having suffered a heart attack himself (it was a heart attack that Larry started the foundation). He thought having me on board would help his foundation and I'm honoured he thought so," Sonu Niigaam Ji told DNA.

Sonu Ji adds,"I strongly felt I should do something for people even in America. I believe in Oneness, and for me, Indians and Americans are the same. If I can do philanthropic work in India, why can't I do it in America? I had a great dinner meeting with Larry. He has a different sense of humour and is very curious about our country."

God bless Sonu Bhaiya for all His noble work, whatever He is planning..

Cheers!!

Padm Shri awarded singer says Sonu Niigaam is a genuine musician

Gunidas Sammelan is among the few such events in the city which have preserved and promoted the true and rare art of Hindustani classical music. As the 33rd sammelan takes place in the city, After Hrs caught up with Ustad Rashid Khan, who performs at the festival and belongs to the Rampur-Sahaswan Gharana. He was awarded the Padma Shri, as well as the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2006. Even Pandit Bhimsen Joshi is believed to have said once that Rashid Khan holds the true potential and promise for the future of Indian vocal music

Khan likes to concentrate purely on the classical style of music and is not really tempted to run the rat race of the Hindi film industry.

"Classical music is the ultimate. You may feel that the younger generation doesn't listen to classical music, but actually there are hundreds of amazing classical songs present today, existing either with fusion music or pure, which are really loved by the younger generation," he says.

Khan's Aao ge jab song in the film Jab We Met is a classic example. This classical song has a slow melodious and romantic tone and is considered among the best songs from the movie. "Classical music will continue to exist forever," he says. However, Khan is not happy with the general state of music that is being produced in the industry. "I feel that there is less of 'gaana' and more of 'bajaana' in most of the music you hear today. It doesn't mean that I am criticising anybody but there are certain really random songs you hear in movies today which have no head or tail," he remarks.

But he holds musicians and singers such as AR Rahman, Shankar Mahadevan, Sonu Niigaam, Jagjit Singh and Hariharan in high regard. He says, "All of these musicians have learnt classical music since inception. They really know the value of good music."

Sonu Niigaam Ji, the best singer till date

In the swarming crowd of modern-day singers, soulful voice of the all time versatile singer Sonu Niigaam is rarely heard. But now the wait is over as his soothing voice has adorned the beautiful romantic number in the film Marega Salaa.

Apart from keeping the audience on the edge of their seat this murder mystery is full of melody. Daboo Malik has composed the music of the film and ever since its release he has been ga-ga about it. Apparently, Daboo's favorite number ‘Ankhiyaan Tumhaari’ is in Sonu Niigaam’s voice.

Daboo imparts, “Everyone wanted some young singer to sing this particular song and initially I was also of the same opinion, but when I was deciding the voice for the song, trust me, only Sonu’s voice struck my mind. In spite of lot of argument with the team I did not budge and adamantly I roped in Sonu to sing the song. And guess what, as soon as the recording got over everyone was spellbound by the magic of his voice. I would say Sonu is the soul of this song.”

May God bless the super icon so that He may continue to sing for many more decades to come and i am very much sure that after 30 years from today, Sonu Bhaiya will remain on the top of the charts and will keep all His fans enthralled by His mellifluous voice and charming personality.

Thank You God for blessing us with such a gem and thank you Sonu Bhaiya..

God Bless..

Cheers!!

Lighting up the candles

We all are aware of the disastrous incident that happened last year in Mumbai on 26/11. A day in Indian history, which we can't forget all through our lives. Many soldiers and civilians lost their lives without doing any crime. All of us want to forget that day but we can't.

Hence, in honour of all those people and brave soldiers who fought for the reason that we can live our life peacefully, we have taken an initiative to light up the candles in memory of all. We request you all to do the same at your respective houses and do remember their sacrifice. We all are proud to be Indians and its our duty to respect and remember all those martyrs. So, lets join our hands and light up some candles or diyas at our houses. It's a kind request to all of you.

A R Rahman is on a roll

A R Rahman is on a roll - he's been featured in Times magazine's list of 100 most influential people in the world has got nominations for his musical score for hollywood romcom Couples Retreat...
and he reveals that all this is not new to him, because the score of roja was featured on Time's 10 Best Soundtracks of all times! He's also upbeat about the fact that his son, Ameen has sung for the score Couples Retreat. But Rahman also says that there's life beyond film music.
He also says that I never compose music for films. I always do it for myself. I gave the song JAI HO to Slumdog Millionare and the rest is history.

Sonu Niigaam Ji's experiment with ghazals

We have seen Sonu ji singing lot of love songs, sad ones, oldies fusion etc. But it's rare to watch him sing a ghazal that too with a ghazal singer Talat Aziz ji, whom he followed from his childhood days.
Once, when Sonu Ji was studying at his home, Talat ji's interview was being telecast on television but he was busy with books. His father, a renowned singer Agam Kumar Nigam ji came there and insisted that if you want to pursue as a singer in your life ahead then you should watch and listen to such people.
Its a rare chance to see Sonu ji singing ghazals. But let me tell you that the singer is just superb whether he is singing a love song or a ghazal. That's what makes him the number one singer of India today. He with Talat Aziz did an album namely Carvaan - E - Ghazal.
Both the singers also performed at the launch of the album on13th Jan, 2009 at St. Andrews Auditorium, Mumbai. It was just superb and spell bounding performance by both of them and was worth watching.
Here is a link to watch out their performance where Talat Ji said that whatever he is singing, is just an inspiration from Sonu. It was a real great comment and a moment worth treasuring.
Cheers!!

Sonu Niigaam - A University of Music

Since its inception in the early 90's, Hindi film music has owed much of its popularity to a select number of vocalists striding its stage with gravitas.
After struggling a lot for an entrance in the Indian music industry, Sonu Ji came with full confidence and bang on. The singer has made His own place in the industry today. Referred as the no. 1 singer of India, He has been rewarded with numerous awards including National Award, Filmfare, IIFA and the list continues. A singer par excellence, with so much of varieties, variations, and possibilities; a true musician who gives equal importance to techniques and tonal quality.
One can't explain or define what Sonu Ji has with His singing. Its His passion. He creates a magic all over when He hits a musical note. Even India's doyenne of the genre, the nightingale Lata Mangeshkar Ji says, " Sonu is the best of all". She has a strong belief that whenever Sonu Ji will step in the field of composing He will be the best in that field as well. And no doubts, Sonu Ji has composed for some of His private albums, penned the lyrics and they were the mega hits.
A multi talented showman, who is a master of music, an instituition, a university. If a person wants to learn music, just hear Him sing and you'll get it all. After achieving so many milestones, Sonu Ji is so humble, down to earth personality, a different class of dignity altogether. Wherever He makes an appearance, He just win hearts of all.
Sonu Ji himself says, " I've done a lot of hard work to reach to this stage and it still continues. Before being a good vocalist or a performer, one should be a better human being." And the singer has implemented all this on Himself so well that one can't believe that he/she is standing next to such a great person.
Sonu Ji has worked with some of the best music directors such as A R Rahman, Anu Malik, Daboo Malik, Usha Mangeshkar, Shankar Ehsaan Loy, Jatin Lalit, Nadeem Shravan, Raju Singh, Shantanu Moitra, Preetam, Sajid Wajid and many more. Recorded vocals for thousands of movies and with so many other legends. Sonu Ji has a record of recording 45 songs in a day.
So much of dedication and determination towards music is worth watching. A born talent, who has judged many TV reality shows, hosted the longest running musical reality show, acted in movies, a sound engineer, can play almost all the instruments with equal perfection, a live performer, lyricist, a composer and what not.
The only singer today, who can sing a classical number, a ghazal, a film song, fusion, a bhajan, an old song with full confidence and perfection. Simly a living legend, a student of life.
If I went on writing on the legendary voice, pages would be short and the ink of my pen would be finished.
Therefore, I am summing it up and thus this article is a tribute to my idol, my musical father, Sonu Bhaiya. The journey started from the age of 3 is running in full speed till date and will be continued for many more decades.
The journey of this mellifluous and superbly talented voice has just begun and the very best of Sonu Niigaam is still to come.
So just wait and watch.
